Try out fees must be paid before the athlete takes the floor for the first session.  If a player can NOT make the open ID camp,  they still must register PRIOR to March 4th.   Try Out Fees can be paid in the following manner:

  • E-Transfer (preferred method) - e-transfer to payments@sasklacrosse.net.   No security password is required.   In the memo please make sure to put your child's full name (First and Last) and what divisions they are trying out for.  With out this information you will not receive credit for the payment.
  • Cheque - cheques can be made out to Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association and mailed to (Sask Lacrosse, 2205 Victoria Ave, Regina SK S4P 0S4) OR brought to the try out.   In the memo line of the cheque please make sure to put the athletes full name (first and last) and what divisions they are trying out for to receive credit for the payment.
  • Cash - we prefer to not have cash payments but will take if necessary.   The cash must be placed in an envelope and have the players full name (first and last) and divisions they are trying out for to receive credit.

The try out costs include athletes receiving all their floor time, a reversible Team Sask pinnie, and an evaluation report card once try outs are complete.   Costs cover the cost of floor time,  evaluation software, pinnies, and Coaching/Evaluator costs.   If there is any surplus after all Talent ID costs are paid,  that will be provided to the Teams to help offset team fees.

TRY OUT PROCESS

The try out process for teams will be:

  1. Athletes attend Open Talent ID sessions. Athletes should be at ALL sessions.   If an athlete can not make an Open Talent ID session, they still need to register and pay the Open Talent ID session fee by March 4th.   We will work with the athlete to determine another time they can be evaluated dependent on the reason they are missing the session.
  2. After the Open Talent ID sessions,  Coaches will determine which athletes are invited back to the Invitational Talent ID sessions.  How many athletes are carried forward will be up to each age groups Coaches.
  3. Athletes who move forward will attend the Invitational Talent ID sessions.
  4. For the BOX teams,  after the Invitational Talent ID sessions,  Coaches will have until the first week of June to watch athletes at different tournaments/events and finalize their rosters.   This will be for teams attending Minor Box Nationals and the Jr. NLL tournament,  so athletes will find out if they are placed to the Nationals Team, Jr. NLL team, or no longer moving forward.    For FIELD teams,  after the Invitational Talent ID sessions,   Coaches will have until the week after the SLA Field Provincials to watch athletes and finalize their rosters, with Provincials being a final evaluation weekend.

We recognize the try out process is a long one,  however we want to ensure all interested athletes are given a fair opportunity to be thoroughly evaluated,  with Try Outs being held prior to the start of the season, it is important Coaches see how players do during games.   Sask Lacrosse will do what it can in terms of booking parent hotels, and flight options to help keep costs down for families wishing to travel to watch their athlete.

TALENT ID TIMES (TIMES ARE SUBJECTIVE TO CHANGE IF DEEMED NECESSARY)

The all age group female sessions is an opportunity for our female athletes to get together for an hour as a female only session to work on skills and get to know other female athletes from across the Province.

For the two hour time slots on Sundays,  this is so families could get on the road after a player is done a session, instead of wait a few hours.  For these sessions athletes will do skills/drills for an hour,  have a snack/water break and then scrimmage for the second hour.

ALL TALENT ID SESSIONS ARE CLOSED TO SPECTATORS, INCLUDING PARENTS.  PLAYERS ARE TO BE DROPPED OFF 30 TO 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THEIR SESSION AND PICKED UP AFTER.   PARENTS CAN HELP PLAYERS SIGN UP FOR THE FIRST SESSION, HOWEVER CAN PICK UP AFTER IN THE LOBBY AFTER THE SESSION.  AFTER THE FIRST SESSION,  PLAYERS CAN BE DROPPED OFF IN THE LOBBY
