SLA Accepting Applications for Governance and Finance Committees

The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association (SLA) is excited to announce the formation of two new committees: the Governance Committee and the Finance Committee. We are now accepting applications from passionate individuals who are eager to contribute their expertise and insights to the governance and financial management of our organization.

About the Committees:

Governance Committee: This committee will be responsible for reviewing SLA Bylaws and Policies to ensure they are up to current standards and to the needs of the organization. The Governance Committee will play a vital role in upholding the integrity and transparency of our organization's Bylaws and Policies in which it operates under.

• Governance Committee is composed of:
  • V.P of Operations - Committee Chair
  • V.P of Finance
  • Minimum of two other individuals as approved by the SLA Board of Directors.  These individuals must apply for the committee, and must have demonstrated knowledge in nonprofit Governance and policy writing.  Priority will go to individuals that are independent of any Lacrosse Association.
  • Executive Director as an Ex Officio Member (Non-Voting)

• Voting Structure:
  • All members of the Finance Committee shall have one vote except for the Executive Director who is an ex officio committee member.

• Meetings:
  • The committee will meet as often as needed, with a required meeting prior to the AGM.    There will be more than normal amounts of meetings once the Committee is formed as it does it's first initial review.

Finance Committee: The Finance Committee will be tasked with overseeing the financial affairs of the SLA. The Finance Committee will play a crucial role in safeguarding the financial health and sustainability of the SLA.

• Finance Committee is composed of:
  • SLA V.P of Finance - Committee Chair
  • SLA President
  • One Additional SLA Board Member 
  • One to Two additional individuals as approved by the Board of Directors.  These individuals do not have to be present Board Members, must apply for the committee, and must have demonstrated Financial Knowledge (Accountant, Bookkeeper etc).  Priority will go to individuals that are independent of any Lacrosse Association.
  • Executive Director as an Ex Officio Member (Non-Voting)

• Voting Structure:
  • All members of the Finance Committee shall have one vote except for the Executive Director who is an ex officio committee member.

• Meetings:
  • The committee will meet as often as needed.    With the fiscal year end being October 31, there is potential for more than normal meetings in the following months.

All applications must be submitted by May 22nd, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered.
