Strategic Plan

The 2013-2017 SLA Strategic Plan focuses on accomplishing different initiatives in five areas that will help strengthen all the sectors of the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association to ensure all disciplines of Lacrosse grow in Saskatchewan. The five areas of focus are:

  • Organizational Structure
  • Communication
  • Player Competition
  • Technical
  • Competition


Where the SLA Wants to Be in Ten Years Lacrosse for Life – the goal to expose, grow and develop our membership in Canada’s National Sport. To promote a lifelong relationship with the sport of Lacrosse at all levels, from recreational to elite level programming.


What’s the SLA’s Core Purpose to promote, develop, and administer the sport of Lacrosse in Saskatchewan, while providing opportunities for lifelong participation and the pursuit of excellence.


The SLA’s core beliefs that guide our actions, policies, and decision making.
The SLA has the same values as the Canadian Lacrosse Association which is to keep HEART into the game of Lacrosse by providing:
Health – the SLA utilizes the Long Term Athlete Development model instilled by Canada Sport to provide developmentally appropriate
opportunities to experience fitness, fun and friendship in the fastest game on two feet
Excellence – the SLA always works to achieve high standards in all aspect of our sport: playing, coaching, officiating, volunteering,
managing, and leading.
Accountability – the SLA will operate with integrity and transparency, accepting responsibility for outcomes and results.
Respect – the SLA will work together to unite communities by embracing inclusion, accessibility and diversity.
Teamwork – the SLA will work together with all Member Associations to build a climate of collaboration and trust

Organizational Structure

SLA’s goal in this area is to build a solid organizational structure in order to support our Member Associations. To do
this the SLA will focus on the following four initiatives.

1.) Improve Governance

  • Keep Policy Manual current.
  • Ensure Policy Manual is enforced.
  • Have no vacant Board of Director positions

2.) Increase and Develop SLA Staff

  • Hire two part time Technical Directors
  • Hire a Marketing Director
  • Provide development opportunities for SLA staff.

3.) Create more Corporate Sponsorship

  • Create partnerships with major Corporations
  • Create partnerships with Lacrosse specific Corporations

4.) Recruit and Retain more Volunteers

  • Recruit Volunteers
  • Retain Volunteers
