2019 SENIOR PGLL GREAT WESTERN BREWERIES PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

GWB PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 4

Brad Schnitzler - Saskatoon Steelers 

 

Schnitzler chipped in with 3 goals and 4 assists in a 13-5 win over the Outlaws.  A few days later he also posted 4 goals and 4 assists in a close battle against the Sr.Swat in a loss 11-12.

GWB PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 3

Adam Saunders -  Saskatoon Brewers

Saunders continuing his domination against all teams in the league he posted up 4 goals and 5 assists against the Regina Heat 18-5 victory.  The day after they travelled down to Estevan and Saunders added 3 goals and 6 assists. He finds himself at the top of the scoring lead with 46 points in 5 games and it leads the league in goals with 21.

GWB PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 2

Travis Williams -  Regina Heat

 

Williams helped immensely against the Outlaws in their battle on May 11.  He led the way with 5 goals in a 10 - 4 victory.  The day after, he helped with 1 goal and 2 assists in a close win over the Swat 6 - 5.

 

GWB PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Todd Doepker -  Moose Jaw Chiefs

 

Starting the season off 3-0 Doepker is Mr. Consistent!  Averaging 5.33 points per game over his last three games he find him self at the top of the leaderboard.  In 11 games last year Doepker posted 24 goals and 28 assists. Doepker is on pace to surpass his last years numbers.

 

 

 

 

 

2018

GWB PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 7

Bryton Thorarinson and Adam Saunders - Saskatoon Brewers 

 

Last Saturday the Brewers took on their rivals the Heat and came out victorious in a 19 to 7 battle. Saunders had 3 goals and 3 assists and Thorarinson has 4 Goals and 3 assists. 

PGLL scoring leader, Saunders has 6.9 PPG and Thorarinson has 5.5 PPG this year. These two individuals, when they are on top of their game, no defense can stop them.

GWB PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 6

Tanner Kittler - Moose Jaw Chiefs

 

Chiefs travelled up to Prince Albert, Kittler had very productive night chipping in with 5 goals and 2 assists in a very close battle. The Chiefs pulled out a big W over the Outlaws 9 to 8. The day after, Kittler chipped in with 3 goals and 3 assists in a victory against the Plainsmen.

 

GWB PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 5

Brandon Murphy - Saskatoon Brewers

The battle of Saskatoon top two teams took place this past Thursday against the Steelers and the Brewers came out on top 16 to 9. Murphy was a huge part of the success chipping in with 4 goals and adding 6 assists. Murphy now has 20 goals and 23 assists In just 9 games this season

Christopher Ptolemy- Saskatoon Steelers

 

Ptolemy was phenomenal this past weekend against the Chiefs on Saturday and the Heat on Sunday with 2 huge victories over these clubs: 12 to 10 and 10 to 6. Ptolemy has always been strong between the pipes but these probably are the two biggest victories in Steelers history against two close competitors in a weekend for their club.

 

 

GWB PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 3

 

 Frank Davalos - Moose Jaw Chiefs

 

Davalos opened up the scoring against a Saskatoon Steelers. The Steelers added a couple of great additions to the roster which will cause troubles for other teams such as the Chiefs. Davalos chipped in with 3 goals and added 1 helper in 12-7 victory over the Steelers. Frank is always one of the leading goal snippers on the Chiefs roster and when he is on his game it usually results in a victory for the Chiefs.

 

 

GWB PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 2

 

Ryan Wahobin - Saskatoon Brewers 

Travis Seal - Estevan Impact

This week a dual combination of goaltenders to take the Player of the Week. Wahobin was the backbone to a great defense against the Regina Heat in a very physical affair. The Brewers come away with a victory 13-7.

Seal had a exceptional game against the Saskatoon Steelers keeping them in the game 11-7 lose. Each goalie provides a great boost to their clubs and will continue to do so moving forward.

 

GWB PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 1

 

Adam Stewart - Regina Heat

Stewart had a very impressive game this past Saturday against their Highway #1 rivals the Chiefs.  Picking up 6 goals with one being a shorthanded to bring the Heat a huge home opener win 15-8. Stewart has been around the league for a very long time and it seems like the older he gets the better he does.

 

 

 

 

2017

Galger's PGLL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 6

 

Brandon Murphy - Saskatoon Brewers

 All season long the Murphy brothers provides headaches for other teams. Brandon chipped in with four goals and two assists in a big victory over the Chiefs - 14-4 win.

 

Gary Lund - Regina Rifles

 In the last game of the regular season, the Rifles hosted though Predators and managed a 14-5 victory. Lund scored four times in a row.  Lund is tied at 4th in the Junior Division Scoring Leader.

 

Ryan Potie - Saskatoon Steelers

Potie helped his team in a much-needed victory over the Saskatoon Sr. Swat 17-14. Potie scored the first four goals for the Steelers and then chipped in another four more adding one assist.  

 

Saskatoon Swat Defense 

The Saskatoon Swat  played three very important games this past weekend that were all decided by 2 or less goals. Most notably was their victory against the Rifles 6-5 to snap their undefeated season.

 

 

Galger's PGLL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 5

 

Louden Choptuik -  Saskatoon Brewers

Choptuik has been Mr. Consistent since his days playing with the Yorkton Bulldogs.  He frustrates offensive players around the league.  This past weekend he shut down the Regina Heat in a big 9-5 victory to remain undefeated in 2017.

 

Zach Krupski - Regina Rifles

Krupski played a massive role in the victory over the Regina Riot chipping in with three critical goals in a 11-4  victory. Rifles are still undefeated and looking very strong with the help of Krupski and the rest of the defending champs.

 

Galger's PGLL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 4

Ben Pominville - Regina Heat

On Saturday evening, this goaltender recorded a shut out very few in PGLL history - if any at all. Pominville was not only a stellar on Saturday but he has been the backbone towards and very talented defensive Heat team this year.  Recording 4.5 goals against average in six games this year very impressive! 

 

Ashton Hall -  Prince Albert Predators

Hall had a tremendous game at home against the Mustangs posting 5 goals and 3 assists in a 19-9 victory. Hall finds himself tied at the top of the Junior Points Race!

 

Galger's PGLL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 3

Ben Wiebe - Regina Riot

Wiebe has provided offensive power to the start of the Riot's season chipping in 6 goals and 5 assists in two victories this past weekend on their road trip up North.

 

Dylan Lefebvre - Regina Heat

Lefebvre is having a tremendous 2017 season as he finds himself second overall in the points race in the PGLL. Lefebvre posted 6 goals and 1 assist in a 12-3 win over the Saskatoon Steelers this past weekend.

 

Galger's PGLL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 2

Bryton Thorarinsson - Saskatoon Brewers:  He is having a very impressive start to the 2017 season. He finds himself at the top of the scoring leaders in the PGLL.  He was a driving force in the Brewers victory over the Chiefs with a very impressive 4 goals and 2 helpers in a 13-9 win. 

 

Mason Viczko - Moose Jaw Mustangs:  He has started the season off right with a huge victory over the Prince Albert Predators chipping in with 3 goals and 1 assist. Viczko Will be relied heavily on this year to try to get the Mustangs back to the playoffs.

 

 

Galger's PGLL SR. PLAYER OF THE WEEK 1

Konnor Siemens - Saskatoon Steelers: Siemens  battled hard on Thursday night as they took on the Sr. Swat. Siemens  join the Steelers  after playing with the Brewers last year. In 2016 he posted 12 goals and 15 assists  playing in 8 games. He posted 7 goals and 4 assists in a 19 to 6 victory over the Sr.Swat!

PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 6

Todd Doepker - MOOSE JAW CHIEFS

Doepker is Mr. Consistent always finding his way onto the score sheet but this past Wednesday's game against the Heat he had a very impressive game posting 6 goals and 2 assists. Doepker will be a very pivotal player when it comes to the game this Saturday against their Trans-Canada rivals the Heat.

 

PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 5

LIAM DIEBEL - RIOT

DIEBEL Is one of the top offensive players in the PGLL with his league-leading 27 goals in only 8 games. DIEBEL had a strong performance against the Predators and the Swat which ultimately pushed the Riot to first place in the league.

SAM MURPHY - BREWERS

MURPHY had a strong performances against the Heat. Murphy managed to find the back of the net 9 times and chipped in with 3 assists.

 

PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 4

Brendan Sullivan - SWAT

Sullivan was very influential this past weekend against the Mustangs as he posted 5 goals and 5 assists in a 19-14 victory. Sullivan is currently 3rd in PGLL point races.

Louden Choptuik and Pat Mallough - BREWERS

These two solid tenders for the Brewers are having phenomenal seasons and could not come at a better time than this past weekend with two huge victories against the Chiefs ( 12-3 and 14-5).

 

PGLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 3

Jacob Shannon - RIOT

Shannon is having a unbelievable season posting 7.5 GAA compared to his 2015 11.66 GAA. Shannon this past week provided the foundation of a defensive wall against a high-powered offensive talented Rifles squad in a 9-8 victory. Shannon success between the goal pipes has allowed the Riot to be the sole remaining undefeated team in 2016.

Carter Davis and Frank Davalos - CHIEFS

These two individuals are on the score sheet every week for the Chiefs. They are #1 and #2 in senior scoring. Out of the 84 goals scored this year for the Chiefs, these two have a combined 59 points with 27 goals. They were both huge contributors in this past week's win against the Heat combining 6 goals and 5 assists in the 12 - 9 victory. At the halfway point in the season, the Chiefs find themselves in 1st place.

 

WEEK 1-2

JUNIOR: Mason Belanger -RIFLES

Getting off to a quick start to the 2016 season, M.Belanger has posted 10 goals and 6 assist in 3 games this season helping the Rifles to an undefeated record in 2016.

A.Saunders is at the top of the PGLL scoring leaders with 23 points in just 4 games. Nine more points and he will tie his 2015 points total. He was a very pivotal player in tight games against the Chiefs this past weekend.

 

 

2015

 

WEEK 6

Blake Schindel - Regina Rifles - Mr. Play-maker is 1st in the PGLL in assists and was a huge piece to the puzzle for the Rifles late-season surge to get to the championship finals. Consistent with his play throughout the season, Schindel recorded 3 goals and 3 assists against the Riot and 1 goal and 4 assists  in an overtime victory against the Predators to advance to the finals.
Louden Choptuik and Pat Mallough Saskatoon Brewers goaltenders - both of these goaltenders are having impressive season and are 1 and 2 in GAA In the Senior division. Brewers had two critical wins this past weekend over the Heat,  only allowing 11 goals in 2 games. First place is on the line this weekend, as it is the Chiefs versus the Brewers.

 

WEEK 5

Mason Belanger - Regina Rifles- Mason had two very impressive games in Prince Albert this past weekend to lift the Rifles closer to 2nd in the standing hoping to host a semi-final game. Mason registered 3 goals in a 9-4 victory and also 2 goals and 4 assists in at a 18-9 win over the Predators.

Rob Caleval and the Regina Heat Defense. The Regina Heat went into MJ and pulled off a huge victory to lift the Heat closer to 2nd in the Senior Standings. Caleval provided some critical saves in key times throughout the game. Heat defense limited the Chiefs offense to just 8 goals in the game and only 3 goals scored five on five. The rematch is to take place on June 10 in Regina at 8 o'clock at the Wickenheiser.

 

WEEK 4

Lucas Wells and the Prince Albert Predators Defense - On May 30, the Predators played extremely well defensively holding the top two PGLL Point Leaders- Linklater and Currie from the Swat just to five points in a 9-8 victory. The Victory has moved the Predators into a tie for 1st place with the Swat. Wells is 2nd in PGLL Junior Goalies with an 8.30 GAA.

Steve Toporofsky Saskatoon Brewers-In his first two games as a Brewer this season, he chipped in with 3 goals and 6 assists this past weekend against the Chiefs. The Brewers and Chiefs split the weekend series and are tied for 1st place in the Senior Division.

 

WEEK 3

Mitch Linklater Saskatoon Swat - In just 5 games this year, Linklater is tied for 1st overall in scoring lead in the PGLL with 21 goals and 16 assist and is 1st in overall goal scored in the PGLL. Linklater had a very impressive Week 3 in the PGLL with 11G and 5A in two victories against the Riot this past weekend.

Jeff Davies Estevan Impact - Davies played his first two games of the season this past weekend in Estevan against the Heat. Estevan could not find their 1st victory of the year but Davies played extremely well with 5G and 4A out of the total 13G scored for the Impact combined in the two games.

 

WEEK 2

Prince Albert Predators - Arliss McCloy. McCloy is having a very impressive start to the 2015 season finding himself third amongst Junior players in points and first overall in goals in the Junior division. This past weekend McCloy had six goals and two assists in two much-needed wins against the Regina Riot to move the Predators into first place.

Moose Jaw Chiefs - Taylor Dobrescu and Steve Michaluk. They both chipped in with three goals and two assists against Heat on Saturday in a critical win 13-10 Chiefs. These two teams will meet again this Thursday in Regina-should be a good one!

 

WEEK 1

Regina Rifles - Jesse Duncan - The Rifles wanted revenge over last year's Championship loss in Saskatoon. Duncan had an impressive two games over the new Saskatoon Swat team this past weekend in Regina. Duncan combined for 4G and 6A to lift the Rifles in critical much-needed 4 early points in the standings against the Swat.

Saskatoon Brewers - Matt and Adam Saunders - This dynamic dual combined for 28 points ( Matt 5G, 10A & Adam 5G & 8A)  this past weekend against the Regina Heat. The Brewers managed back-to-back victories in spoiling the Regina Heat home opener weekend.

 

 

 

2014

 

WEEK 8

Liam Diebel Regina Riot - Diebel helped  the Riot last week finalize fifth-place in a huge victory over the Estevan Big Dogs adding 6 goals and 6 assists. Diebel finds himself in sixth place in the scoring leaders in the Junior standings and forth amongst goal scorers. Diebel will look to have his hot streak continue into the playoffs as they face the Prince Albert Predators this upcoming week.

Sheldon Paul Moose Jaw Chiefs - Paul along with the Chiefs defense had a remarkable game against the Regina Heat in a 10-4 victory to guarantee themselves second place. Paul will have to be solid between the pipes once again as they take on the Heat this Friday at 8 PM at the Cooperators Centre in Regina. The winner will move on to play for the senior championship Sunday at 330 at the Cooperators Centre.

 

WEEK 7

Ryan Potie Saskatoon Steelers - Ever since coming back from his ankle injury Potie is consistently adding offense to the Steelers lineup. Potie had 5 goals and 2 assists in a critical game against the Riot. This victory almost moves the Steelers closer to 4th place and a home quarterfinal playoff game.

Adam Saunders Saskatoon Brewers-  Saunders had a tremendous weekend when the Brewers played the Heat twice and received two victories.  Saunders has 26 goals in only 8 games this year and has allowed the Saskatoon Brewers a chance at finishing 1st in the Senior standings.

 

WEEK 6

Mackenzie Shore Yorkton Bulldogs - Shore played a very inspirational role in the Bulldogs victory over the Big Dogs 12-10. Shore added 5 goals and 1 assist in the victory. The Bulldogs are looking to make a strong push into the playoffs and are looking to lock up a quarterfinal home game.

Kyle Bazansky  Moose Jaw Chiefs - Bazansky played his first two games of the regular season against the Saskatoon Brewers. The Chiefs and the Brewers managed to split the weekend games and Bazansky added nine goals. Bazansky’s talents might allow the Chiefs to hold onto first place.

WEEK 5

Sam Murphy Saskatoon Smash - Sam finds himself at the top of the PGLL scoring leaders after having a very impressive three games at the Festival this past weekend.  Sam as an incredible 57 goals in 9  games and is looking to break 100 points this season.

Dallan Larson Regina Heat - Larson was a very critical piece to the Heat’s offense against the Moose Jaw Chiefs to hand them their first loss of their franchise. Larson finds himself third in the PGLL senior scoring race.

 

WEEK 4

Tristan Frei Regina Rifles- Tristan Frei  received back-to-back player of the week awards. This is the first time in a long time that this has happened in the PGLL. Frei posted 12G and 2A against the Estevan Big Dogs in a 25 to 10 victory. Trei continued his impressive play the next day against the Saskatoon Steelers and managed 6G and 2A in a 16 to 5 victory.

Carter Davis Moose Jaw Chiefs - Davis helped the Chiefs knock off the Regina Heat 13 to 9 victory. Davis playmaking skills were too much for the Heat defense as Davis posted 6A and chipped in with 2G. The Chiefs continue their undefeated season and will have a rematch on May 28th with the Heat.

 

WEEK 3

Tristan Frei Regina Rifles - Starting where he left off last year, Tristan is at the top of the PGLL Scoring Leaders (20G,4A IN 3GP). Tristan is always match up against the competition best defensive players but yet always puts up the points. Tristan success has led to success for the Rifles.

Adam Saunders Saskatoon Brewers - The Brewers had a close match up against the Chiefs but the Chiefs came out ahead 15-13. Adam Saunders was a huge part of the Brewers success in this game. Saunders scored  the first 4 Brewers goals and finished with 6 goals and 3 assists.

 

WEEK 2

Murphy Brothers Saskatoon Smash- Consisting of Sam (9G,8A), Spencer (5G,4A)and Reid(3G,4A). This trio of brothers will bring numerous teams troubles in the offensive zone. The Smash managed to split a home and home games against the Predators this past weekend.

Steve Michaluk Moose Jaw Chiefs-For over two decades, Steve is known as ‘Mr. Consistency’ as his level of competitiveness is always high on game days. One of the best players to ever play lacrosse in the province of Saskatchewan the PGLL is honored to have him in the league. In four games this season, Steve has  14 goals and 15 assists making him the PGLL points leader.

 

WEEK 1

Rhett Handley Estevan Big Dogs- Starting the season where he left off in 2013. Rhett Managed 8 goals and 5 assists totaling 13 points in two games on the weekend against the Prince Albert Predators and the Saskatoon Steelers. Big Dogs managed to go 1-1 on the weekend.

Moose Jaw Chiefs Team - Chiefs first two games as a franchise in the PGLL and they managed to put up 47 goals for and only 1 goal against. This was secondary compared to the class act that they showed as a team honoring two individuals - Kenny Stewart and Chris Saunders. WELL DONE CHIEFS!

 

 

2013

 

WEEK 8

Chris Ptolemy the goalie from the Saskatoon Steelers. Ptolemy Had a outstanding game against the league-leading Saskatoon Smash. Ptolemy Only allowed six goals against the high-powered offensive Smash in a big 9-6 victory. The Steelers are very strong in between the pipes in 2013 and are hoping to advance to the final four with a victory over Predators on Monday.

Honorable mentions: Rhett Handley and Dylan Smith From the Estevan Big Dogs. Handley (6G,8A) and Smith (8G,2A) Had a very explosive game against the Yorkton Bulldogs in a 18-9 victory. These two individuals will play a huge role on Monday for the BIG DOGS to surpass the RIFLES to make it to the final four in Saskatoon next weekend.

 

WEEK 7

Logan McMurtry from the Regina Rifles. McMurtry is currently 2nd in the PGLL scoring race and is averaging 6.11 points per game. McMurtry in 2012 finished second overall posted 5.77 points per game. McMurtry has led the Rifles to a first-place finish in the South Division. McMurtry this past week, led the rifles to a 18-5 victory over the Prince Albert Predators posting 5G and 4A. Rifles travelled to Yorkton and won 9-6 over the Bulldogs with 2G and he posted a very good defensive game.

Honorable mentions- Jack Oakanee from the Saskatoon Smash (5G,5A) in a 15-6 over the Prince Albert Predators. Oakanee currently has 7.5 points per game and is leading the league in this category by a full point per game.

Taylor Frei from the Regina Rifles posted 4G and 6A against the Predators and 2G and 2A against the Bulldogs. Currently Frei sits 4th in the PGLL scoring race.

 

WEEK 6

Louden Choptuik of the Yorkton Bulldogs and Dylan Smith of the Estevan Big Dogs.

Choptuik remains the backbone to the Yorkton Bulldogs and continues to shut down high offensive teams each and every week. Choptuik had a very impressive game against the Saskatoon Steelers in a 5-3 victory. This was critical for the Bulldogs as they are moving up the North standings. There is a very high possibility of the Bulldogs playing the Steelers in the first round of playoffs.

Smith (29G,20A) is second in the PGLL scoring race behind teammate Handley (15G,39A). These two Big Dog players are always amongst the highest point totals every year in the PGLL. Smith is currently leading the Junior PGLL in goals scored after Week 6. Smith (9G,4A) had an amazing night against the Regina Riot giving the Big Dogs back to back wins over the Riot - 12-7 W and 21-8 W. The Big Dogs are hoping to move past the Mustangs  to clinched third place so they can meet the Regina Riot again in the first round of playoffs.

Honorable Mentions:  There were numerous players this week that had a very impressive weekend -  Rhett Handley Estevan Big Dogs (4G,12G), Dylan Larson Regina Heat (7G,4A), Logan McMurtry with the Regina Rifles  (4G,3A)and Regina Heat (4G,2A), and Jim Magnaye Regina Heat (1 GAA).

WEEK 5

Rhett Handley continues to climb up the PGLL scoring leaders. Handley is a strong consistent player that is heavily relied on at both ends of the floor. Handley and the Big Dogs rolled into the Queen city to play the Riot on June 7 and managed to receive their first W of the season in a 12-7 victory.  Handley (3G,3A) provides great leadership on and off floor. On June 9, the Mustangs hosted the Big Dogs and Handley (2G,3A) but Big dogs would fall 8-13 to the Mustangs

Honorable mentions : Konner Siemens (5G,2A) from the Saskatoon Steelers and Tristan Frei (7G) from the Regina Rifles. The top two teams in the PGLL got together on June 9 in Saskatoon and the Steelers came out on top 13-12 over the Rifles. These two individuals are amongst the most talented players in the league. Watch for Handley, Frei, Siemens and many other talented players this weekend during the All-Star Game and Competition in Estevan.

 

WEEK 4

Tyler Dobrescu from the Moose Jaw Mustangs and Erik Kratz from the Regina Riot share this week honors of PGLL Week 4 Player of the Week. Dobrescu and the Mustangs traveled to Saskatoon on June 1 to take on the Saskatoon Smash ( 9-17 L) and again two days later to take on the Steelers (15-7 W). They provided the Steelers their first loss of the season and Dobrescu was unstoppable (8G 1A). Dobrescu weekend performance moved him up into the top 10 in PGLL Goal Scorers.

Erik Kratz from the Regina Riot played unbelievable against hometown rivals the Rifles (9 - 8 W). Kratz not only is solid at stopping the ball but he can also hurt you with his passing ability. Kratz is in the top percentile of goaltenders for goals against and wins and probably would be in save percentage if the PGLL had the statistics for this.

Honorable Mentions:  Dylan Smith of the Estevan Big Dogs. The Big Dogs are struggling to find their first W of the season but Smith continues on put up impressive numbers. Smith (14A 14A) finds himself tied for fifth in the PGLL scoring race.

 

 WEEK 3

Jack Oakanee from the Saskatoon Smash and Ryan Potie from the Saskatoon Steelers. Oakanee has emerged as one of the PGLL natural goal scorers. Oakanee (5G,2A) in a 10-10 tie against the Smash. In the same game,  Potie (4G,1A) scored with just seconds left to allow the Steelers to remain undefeated. Oakanee (4G) added firepower to the offense in a 16-10 victory over the Regina Riot. Potie (1G,1A) helped the Steelers to a 8-6 victory over the Yorkton Bulldogs. Potie not only is reliable on the offense side of the floor but is a tremendous physical help to the Steelers on defense.

 Honorable Mentions : Louden Choptuik of the Yorkton Bulldogs. The Bulldogs did not receive a victory on the weekend but Choptuik faced a lot rubber which provided the Bulldogs an opportunity to win.

 Kyle Bellegay (4G,9A) and Dallan Larson (8G,6A) from the Regina Heat. Out of a possible 34 goals these two individuals were in on 27 points. They helped the Heat to win twice over Estevan Impact. 

 

WEEK 2

Konnor Siemens from the Saskatoon Steelers. In three games so far Konnor has 10 goals and 3 assists. In 10 games in 2012 Konnor posted 10 goals. Konnor is not only a leader on offense but is critical for the teams defense and provides a huge leadership role to the team success in 2013.

Honorable mentions - Spencer Murphy from the Saskatoon Smash. Spencer posted 4 goals in a 10 - 9 victory over Prince Albert Predators. Very clean and hard-fought battle with only six penalty minutes altogether combined between the two teams.

 

 

WEEK 1

Taylor and Tristan Frei from Regina Rifles. This dynamic brother combination is going to create a lot of headaches for numerous teams this year in the PGLL. The brothers combined for 13 goals and 9 assists in a 33 to 7 victory over the Estevan Big Dogs.

Honorable mentions -Curtis Ptolemly from the Saskatoon Brewers posted 4 goals and 5 assists in the Brewers home opener against Estevan Impact.

 

 

2012

 

WEEK 9

Dylan Lefebvre of the Regina Riot. Lefebvre helped the Riot with 3 goals and 3 assists in a 16-9 victory against home town rivals Rifles, to lock up 1st  place in the PGLL. Lefebvre is at the top of the PGLL scoring leaders with only 7 games played this season and has 22 goals and 21 assists. Lefebvre is 2ND in the PGLL in points per game, just in front of him is Tristian Frei from the Regina Rifles.

 

WEEK 8

Sean Peberdy from Regina Heat and also Rhett Handley from the Estevan Big Dogs. Peberdy had a very impressive game against Saskatoon Minotaurs in a 19-14 win. Peberdy managed to put 6 by the goalie and adding 4 assists. Peberdy climbed fast up the Senior Scoring Leaders to 5th .  Handley managed a point in all of the goals scored - 3g and 3a - against Regina Rifles in a 6-23 lose but also had a tremendous game against the Saskatoon Steelers with 7g and 2a in a 15-15 tie. Handley is currently tied for 1st  in the PGLL in goals scored and 3rd  overall in points. Handley will be looked upon heavily this weekend in order to wrap up 5th with a victory over the Smash.

 

WEEK 7

Louden Choptuik of the Yorkton Bulldogs. Choptuik posted a 4.6 goals against average this weekend in five periods of play to receive four critical points in the standings against. The Bulldogs were victorious over the Big Dogs 11-5  and the Riot  8-2. This is back to back weeks that a PGLL goaltender has received this award.

Honorable mentions - Taylor Dobrescu of the Moose Jaw Mustangs.  Dobrescu had 7 goals and 3 assists against the Smash 17-14 victory and also had 2 goals and 3 assists against the Steelers in a 12-7 win. Tyson Hass of the Yorkton Bulldogs managed 3 goals and 1 assist in a 8-2 victory in two periods of play against the Regina Riot until the game was called due to slippery floors.

 

WEEK 6

Prince Albert Predators - Aaron Jenson and Lucas Wells. This past weekend these two goaltenders displayed a combined 7 goals against average in 3 games accumulating into three hard-fought victories and get a 6 critical points in the standings to move them to the top in the PGLL. They have been the backbone to the Prince Albert Predators all season long and will continue to do so into the playoffs.

Honorable mentions - Dylan Smith of the Estevan Big Dogs. Smith posted 4 goals and chipped in with 6 assists to help them receive a point in a tie against the Regina Rifles. Smith along with teammate Rhett Handley, are climbing up the PGLL scoring leaders.

 

WEEK 5

Taylor Dobrescu of the Moose Jaw Mustangs. Dobrescu finds himself 2nd in the PGLL scoring with 28 points. This past weekend Dobrescu helped the Mustangs receive 3 points in the standings this weekend, in a tie against the Predators 11-11 and a victory over the Bulldogs 11-5. With only two games left the Mustangs are hoping to hold on to the 4th place in the standings.

Honorable mention- Louden Choptuik of the Yorkton Bulldogs. The Bulldogs lost to the Rifles 9-4 and to the Mustangs 11-5. Choptuik saw a lot of rubber and has been a solid force for the Bulldogs all season in goal.

 

WEEK 4

Tristan Frei of the Regina Rifles. Frei had 4 goals and 3 assists against the Mustangs in a 12-9 victory and also 5 goals and 3 assists in another big W against the Saskatoon Smash 14-9. Frei combined with teammate McMurtry MAYBE probably one of the best 1-2 combinations in the PGLL.

Honorable mentions- Regina Rifles McMurtry impressive 7 goals and 9 assists in  two victories this past week. Estevan Big Dogs Handley picked up 5 goals and 1 assist in a much-needed win 15-13 against the Mustangs.

 

WEEK 3

Brandan Whitehouse (6g n 2a) from the Regina Riot. Whitehouse was a offensive spark plug against the Estevan Big Dogs in 26-3 victory. Combined with teammate Tyler Lupanko (5g n 1a), they caused many problems for the Estevan's defense.

Honorable mention - Steve Casewell (2g n 1a) from the Saskatoon Steelers helped the Steelers to a much-needed W over their hometown rivals the Smash.

 

WEEK 2

Kyle Bellgay of the Regina Heat and also Mike Kaminski of the Saskatoon Smash. Bellgay (6g and 1a) had a very impressive game in a 12-12 battle against Minotaurs.  Kaminski (1g and 5a) helped the Smash to their first victory of the season over the Yorkton Bulldogs. Kaminski not only contributed offensively, but spends most of his time defending the oppositions best players as well.

Deserving nominees - Rhett Hedley (4g and 2) from the Estevan Big Dogs in a win 9-8 over Yorkton and also Zac Stokes (3g and 1a) of the Yorkton Bulldogs in the same match.

 

WEEK 1 

Logan McMurtry (6g 1a)had a very successful season opener against the Regina Riot scoring six times and adding one helper. McMurtry along with teammates Tristian Frei (3g 3a) and Spencer Watson (1g 5a) will continue to provide many teams with headaches because of their dynamic offensive talents.
